Recent book faves

This last couple of months I have had quite a few favourite books so i thought  would share 2 with you.

1. life with a sprinkle of glitter by Louise Pentland

So if you haven't heard of Louise she is a blogger and Youtuber and her recent released book is a sort of guidebook, you can just read random chapters or sit and read in an order. They're is advice about school and dating. Every page has different borders and amazing colours with such lovely designs and so much glitter, My favourite section is
CREATE
~ Setting up a home
~ Prettifying your room
~ Crafts
~ Anti-baking

2. Paper Towns by John Green

You've probably heard of this as the film recently came out and John green is also a best selling author of the fault in our stars .The story of paper towns follows a teenage boy and his high school crush Margret (portrayed by Cara) who runs away and Quentin finds clues and hints as why and where she runs away. This was one of the only novels in a while that I couldn't put down ,the book is really well written and the characters were just really well developed the storyline is original and easy to follow.

What's in my bag -Jess

This is what I keep in my bag minus all the wrappers and tissues at the bottom.

Lip balm - I actually keep three but they are always so handy.

Wallet - This is obvious but sometimes money and cards just end up at bottom of my bag.

Tissues - I always have hay fever so can't really leave the house without tissues.

Mascara, powder, lipgloss - Because we all have days where we can't face the world without a good face on !

Pencil case - Mainly for school but I always have it in there.

Notebook/planner - Unfortunately I do often forget a notebook but when I have it i'm always using it to right down songs I hear, clothes I see and ideas get.

Water bottle - (usually empty)

Perfume/ body spray - After P.E lesson when you don't feel like walking round covered in sweat.

Headphones - Pretty self explanatory

Compact mirror, tweezers and headbands

Bella's hair skin and makeup faves

It took me a while but I eventually narrowed it down to my top; skin, hair and makeup items. I recommend all these items and have bought these products several times. However, just because they work for me doesn't mean they will work for you, but its worth trying new products from time to time to stretch your comfort zone.

My first product is my make up product. I had to think long and hard at this but then I realised that the product I use everyday even on a no-makeup day is my Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder in 04. I find that this shade gives my face an all over bronze and shows off natural contours however what I love most about this product is that it is a matte bronzer and has a cute compact mirror as well. This product retails at £13.00

My favourite skincare product is by Lush and it is the Ultrabland cleanser. I use this not only to take off my make up but also to wash my face. £7.25 for 45g £11.50 for 100g

This lotion is my favourite hair product due to not leaving a greasy feeling to my hair or weighing it down like other products I have used before. I recommend this highly and it isn't too pricey I don't think so everyone can try it out. This product is £6.00/ 100g.

Flaunt Your Feet

So summer is here and that means bare feet, sandals and flip-flops. Over winter you may not have been giving your feet the love they deserve and probably not flashing your toes around so its time to show them care and attention.

To start with just give them a bath using a foot or exfoliating scrub. You can use body scrubs however foot skin is thicker so you may need something more heavy duty. The body do a really nice foot scrubs Peppermint soothing foot scrub is amazing and has volcanic rock in it to help exfoliate (not as scary or painful as it sounds) .I would also recommend a pummel stone to get rid of dead skin on the bottom of your feet you can get these at all boots and superdrug.

Now for toes! In summer I like to paint my toes bold colours that might not be able to get away with on my nails (at school). You could just as easy opt for a manicure french tips these have many advantages; They go with anything no matter the colour of your shoes, when they do chip from swimming in the sea its less obvious, clean cut so you can dress up with a open toes heal ! My favourite nail vanishes are
ESSIE

To moisturise my feet I use BARE FOOT heal & callus balm (in peppermint and plum). I have found that with this on I don't have to wait for it it dry or soak in i can put on my shoes straight away and if my feet get wet the cream doesn't make them all sticky like some I have tried do.

Happy Birthday Jessie

So as you guys had probably gathered that last week it was my birthday well today is Jessie's birthday  so here is my tribute to my best friend ever.

Jessie, where do i start off? okay so due to our mothers knowing each other we were still in nappies and drooling when we first saw each other (thats a pretty good first impression i think) we then stopped drooling and started to talk (which is more pleasant). since then we have been incapable and I'm super glad to have you because I have no idea where I would be without you or what sort of person I would be. My best friend is my partner in crime, today is a day of celebration and trouble making for this best friend duo. Happy Birthday.

Jess' Top 3 hair and makeup and skin items

These are my three favourite makeup, hair and skin products. Although my favourites may change fairly often these items I have used many times and repurchased, and for this reason they are in my top 3.

MaxFactor Creme Puff Powder
Item -Pressed Powder
Brand -Max Factor
Price -Around £5
To me this item is the most essential to complete a look. I cant imagine using any other powder out there, of all i've tried Max Factor have the best colour match for my skin (nouveau beige 13). When wearing this I don't need wear foundation because this has such good coverage and last for a good 6 hours. The powder comes with a sponge applicator but you may prefer a brush.

John Frieda Frizz Ease

Item -Hair serums
Brand -John Frieda
Price -£3.99~6.99
I have tried most products in this range and love them all. On the days I wear my hair with natural curls all I need is the extra strength serum I would recommend that you use more than it tells you to use depending on length and thickness. They also have products for you if you have straight frizzy hair or need heat protection.

Vaseline Body Moisturiser

Item -Moisturiser
Brand -Vaseline
Price -£5 (400ml)
And finally for skin how could I not choose Vaseline body moisturiser. I know I am not alone when I say this is the best moisturiser high street and high end. The thing I like most about this product is the subtleness of the smell, when wearing this it smells nice but to strong or overpowering that it interferes with my body mist/spray. My personal favourite is COCOA RADIANT. When I tried Aloe vera it come out a bit pale on my skin.
If this product isn't for you I would also recommend Body shop moisturising cream it's a lot thicker.

Homemade Masks

So today we decided that we would share something that we do most weekends and that is making face masks!
The best ways to keep your skin fresh looking is by:

  • getting at least 8 hours sleep minimum
  • have at least 5 glasses of water a day and eat veggies
  • wear SPF on your skin to stop skin damage as much as possible
  • always cleanse your skin as it doesn't strip your skin
  • moisturise your skin to make sure it looks its best
For oily skin:
Ingredients:

  • 1 banana preferably ripe
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 orange or lemon
Preparation:

  • mix the banana and the honey
  • add a few drops of the honey or lemon and
  • mix
  • put onto the face for fifteen minutes
  • rinse

For dry skin:
Ingredients:

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1tsp runny honey
  • 1tsp of olive oil
  • Vitamin oil (optional)
Preparation:

  • mix the egg yolk, honey and oil
  • add vitamin E oil if you have it
  • smooth on
  • leave for fifteen minutes
  • rinse in lukewarm water
  • pat dry
If your skin is dry add olive oil onto skin after washing your face to add moisture

Vinegar facial mask:
Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup of Cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup of water
Preparation:

  • Simply mix together
  • apply to face for 15-20 minutes and you have a facial at home
Oatmeal facial mask:
Ingredients:

  • water
  • oatmeal
  • 2 tbsp of plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp of honey
  • 1 small egg white

Preparation:

  •  prepare 1/2 cup hot—not boiling—water and 1/3 cup oatmeal.
  • After the water and oatmeal have settled for two or three minutes, mix in 2 tablespoons plain yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey, and 1 small egg white.
  • Apply a thin layer of the mask to your face
  •  let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes.
  •  Then rinse with warm water. (Be sure to place a metal or plastic strainer in your sink to avoid clogging the drain with the granules.)
If you don't have the ingredients or the time to make a face mask you could use:
  • Lush face masks -Cupcake a chocolate cleanse and clarify is one of their best .
  • Origins or Sephora also have luxury masks for exfoliating, hydrating and moisturising

Pamper evening essentials

So we all need a bit of me time occasionally and what better than a pamper evening. The best way to start a pamper night is with a nice relaxing hot bath make sure you use all your nice products for example a bath bomb my favourite ones are by Lush© recommend 'Think Pink' it will turn your bath water beautiful deep pink with small confetti hearts in it. A hot bath will relax your muscles and calm your mind, some enjoy reading or watching something but you might just want to lay there.
Whilst in your bath you could apply a face mask but preferably not a self heating one. if you use a lot of heat or product in your hair a hair mask will replenish and heal your hair from the week.

Once you get out the bath moisturising is never a bad idea - Vaseline body lotion is amazing can be found in nearly all drugstores and large supermarkets.

This would be the time to relax put on a favourite movie or T.V show and drink a nice hot drink with a hot water bottle and your favourite snack

. A pamper evening is always something fun to do when you have your friends over when you can all relax together or before prom to get yourself looking all healthy and glowing !

Book review 1- Holes By Louis Sachar

We love this book and both thoroughly enjoyed it . We highly recommend it to most readers however feel if you are younger you may need a bit of help understanding the premises of the book. The book was written really well and Louis Sachar did an amazing job at showing the characters emotions and leaving just enough up to the readers imagination.  This book has also been made into a film by Disney however the books more highly recommended by us.

It has been reviewed as "unmistakably powerful" Philip Pullman and Malorie Blackman as "if you haven't read it, get hold of a copy as soon as possible. I thought it was brilliant!"

The Blurb:
Stanley Yelnats isn't too surprised to find himself at Camp Green Lake, digging holes in the dried
up lake bed, day after scorching day. After all, his family has a history of bad luck.

The boys at Camp Green Lake must dig one hole each day, five feet deep and five feet across. But what are they digging for? Why did Green Lake dry up? And what do onions and lizards have to do with it all? The answers lie in Stanley's own past...

We recommend this book out of five stars:

Spring essentials

With April being the middle of Spring we thought we would give you a list of some of our Spring essentials to help guide you from the cold Winter to the blazing Summer. This will include fashion, beauty and anything else to help you.

Beauty
1.  Our first beauty essential is a good moisturiser to prevent your skin from drying out. We recommend Victoria's secret: Daydream or Body shop: LOVE etc.

2. SPF foundations/BB/CC/moisturisers will come in very handy because even if the sun isn't boiling you still may get burned and harm your delicate skin. (we forgot to add in a photo but we have been loving the Rimmel wake me up and the Rimmel Lasting Finish lately.)

3. A hand bag must have is a lip balm that you love. Some of our favourites are the baby lips by Maybelline.

4. In spring you will want to look as healthy as possible and a good blush will give you that rosy cheeked desirable look everyone looks for. We suggest one with glitter or shimmer so you feel summery and happy !

Fashion
We have taken a picture of us in our favourite spring outfits.

Our staple pieces for this spring are :
1.A pair of good tights (so you can wear those spring clothes without freezing to death!)

2.Loose knit cardigan this will provide warmth and coolness.

3.Floral print dresses. Nothing says spring like flowers and dresses.

4.Canvas shoes e.g converse if your like Bella or ballet pumps if your like Jessie.

Other
1. Water bottle/tumbler cups, this may sound obvious but they will be so handy and you can add cucumber, lemon, mint leaves or even iced tea and coffee!

2. In Spring break you will want to keep busy with a good book or favorite magazine.

3. To make you feel more in the Spring season you could change up your room after all Spring is about new things!  We will be posting a blog on home DIYs to help you out with this.

Introduction

Hi, welcome to our blog we are two girls from the Uk age 14 called Jessie and Bella. We post updates on fashion, media, recipes, outfits, hair care and styling and any tips we think you may enjoy.

From a very young age (0) we were inseparable and side by side we holidayed together visited festivals and created so many amazing and unforgettable memories. At the age of 9 we stopped growing and reached our potential height. After going to separate nurseries and primary schools we started going to school together in secondary school. Throughout primary our fashion, music and social tastes expanded and we developed our own styles and opinions; Much of our tastes are the same however many completely differ and we also share influences of style with each other, we do so many things together from DIY to baking and we thought that we can make even more memories but also let you enjoy reading all the things we get up to!
